Learning Photoshop

My last session until after Christmas with Ami took place today. We decided to start learning about Photoshop. I do have Photoshop here at home and have played around with it previously but I've never had proper tuition so really starting from scratch.

Ami was a great teacher. She got me to write down all the tools that were necessary to carry out the steps that I'll need to colour and edit my characters with.

I think I picked it up quite quickly. Now and then I forget things but because I made notes with key pictures I can always refer back.

I now know how to use the Magic Wand Tool, Eye Dropper, Crop, Zoom, Paint Bucket, Colour Select, Text to name but a few of the skills I have picked up. I am sure there is much more still to learn but hope my skills will improve as I go along.

Final Sketched Character Designs

Been working on my Silver Arts Award Challenge again today. Managed to finalise in pencil my characters. Here's a picture from my sketch book. Feel like I've achieved something because these drawings are now looking like proper characters even though they're still not finished.

After completing pencil sketches I went on to outlining. This gets the characters ready for Photoshop.

Also worked more on personalities, personal information such as age and their likes and dislikes. Working on these ideas really helps create the characters.

Character Development Part 2

Today, I roughly sketched out the outfits and hairstyles for the four main characters of my comic. Then I brainstormed some name ideas.

I have decided on four names but you'll have to wait for the final comic for all to be revealed.

Here are some pictures of my first sketches. The sketches are not amazing as they are rough sketches but the basic ideas are down. It wasn't really a big achievement but at least I've made a start.
